Teacher Web Pages

Teacher Web Pages are Web pages of specific teachers tha include teacher information, school information, teaching information, and other information valuable to parents/guardians and students. I will use a Teacher Web Page to hold my schedule for office hours and times of contact, for providing a tentative class schedule, and to hold virtual tours and podcast of each lecture for students to listen to for review for assessments. I think they are good because they provide parents/guardians and students with valuable information about the school and me when they need it. It is also bad because it opens me to the Web adn other users to view, which may cause some problems based on the information I include on the Web page.

Using Technology to help the Learning Process

As I look back on my past semester in instructional technology, I have learned a lot of things and strategies that I will use in my classroom. One of the tools that I will use in my classroom is the Teacher Web Page because I believe it is a valuable tool that can provide important information to parents and students about the school, policies, and me. Another tool I will use is my blog because it is valuable for presenting information to students via blog posts or items attached. I will also use many other tools, but I believe these tools are the most influential for me to use in the classroom.

Podcasting

Podcasting is the process of streaming an audio or video file delivered automatically to your computer. I will use podcasting to share audio or video files of current events and class lecture. I will use podcasting as an instructional tool to present students with current events that are meaningful to our class instruction. I will also use podcasting as an instructional tool to refresh my students on lectures they may have missed or not understood by streaming them on my web page for them to view at any time necessary. Podcasting is good because it provids a way for students to learn material by listening to an audio file. It is also bad because it is a way teachers can present lectures for students, which may cause them to not pay attention to in-class lectures and lose classroom management.

Computer Ethics

Ethics are the standards that determine whether an action is good or bad. I will have to hold my students to proper technology ethics that meet the school code of conduct for the school district. This will be difficult depending on the material being taught because some material on the Web is appropriate and some is not. I will have to hold my students to obeying the ten commandments from the Computer Ethics Institute. Some difficulties of computer ethics is that some issues may be contraversial and contraversy is not good for maintaining good classroom management. Some good things of computer ethics is that is provides a broad definition for students to obide by.

Webquests

Webquests are inquiry-oriented activities in which the information used by the learner is drawn from the Web. I'll use Webquests to have students do interactive projects, in groups or individually, such as acting like a journalist reporting on the causes of the American Civil War based on secondary and primary sources. Webquests are good tools to use in the classroom because they are interesting and fun for the students that allow them to work on the Web to do activities. They do have their flaws though such as the reliance on technology that sometimes messes up such as the Web to do activities, and another flaw is that some students may not be qualified or have the provisions to work on the Web.

Tyler Greene

This class is agrivating and I would rather read a book or something because I cannot stand using this type of stuff for teaching such as blogs and wikis.
